Richard Spackman

Chief Executive

Richard has had an interesting journey to become the leader of the Aoraki Foundation. Having relocated from Christchurch in 2012 to run a business, he and his family quickly fell in love with the region. In 2020 Richard put his career on hold to travel NZ and the Cook Islands with his wife Sharon and children Sienna & Harry. It was during this adventure that they decided when they return to South Canterbury, they wanted to put community first with all that they do.

Richard’s talents are a perfect fit for the Foundation. He is a natural connector with people and truly believes in the power of giving.

Richard balances this role with coaching local businesses to grow, and spending time with his family. An avid sports fan, he can be found at rugby and cricket grounds around the country or cycling the rural roads behind Timaru.

Kirsty Burnett

Gift & Community Advisor

It's no secret, Kirsty loves South Canterbury!

Kirsty moved to Timaru 21 years ago with daughter Lauryn, to take up a role in radio broadcasting at the iconic Port Fm. After 10 years as a local radio personality, Kirsty completed a diploma in business at Aoraki Polytechnic before working as an event manager for Special Events Aoraki, Events & Membership Manager for The South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce and most recently, Marketing/fundraising Co-Ordinator for Presbyterian Support South Canterbury.

Kirsty is entrenched in our community performing in two local bands and Drama League Shows as well as emceeing and guest speaking at many local events. Kirsty married Timaru born and bred electrician, Craig, at Sopheze on the Bay in 2011. A true lover of all things South Canterbury, Kirsty is excited to bring her skills and enthusiasm to the Aoraki Foundation.

Nicola Buckingham

Administrator

Nicola, her husband Roger and two children Lachlan and Samuel, relocated to the South Canterbury region in 2019 to be closer to their families.

Nicola has a strong background in financial accounting, payroll and office administration. She is excited to be part of an organisation which is all about giving back to the community, and feels fortunate to witness and help administer the financial “smart giving” model applied by the Foundation.

Outside of work Nicola enjoys following her children around watching the various sports they participate in. You will often find her on the cricket sidelines scoring a game throughout the summer weekends. Otherwise she will probably be walking the dog or immersed in a good book.
